Damien has published numerous articles in well respected sports science journals and will provide an insight into what is actually happening in the game itself in terms of the physical demands. Damien's talk will highlight the physical demands of hurling. What are the match-play running demands of inter-county hurling? Are U17, U21 and senior running demands different? Are positional running demands different and are they different at each level? This presentation will provide the latest research findings in the match-play running demands of inter-county hurling.

Conor has been working as a full time professional S&C coach for 5 years now. He has a wealth of experience training inter-county GAA and professional sport's teams. Conor's talk will focus on the need for developing differing energy systems, the different training strategies used to develop optimally conditioned players, the stages of the season and how they affect conditioning strategies as well as a discussion on effective planning for a pre-season. There will also be a practical showing how different training strategies can affect the energy systems being developed and ultimately the fitness profile of the player.

Greg's talk will focus on S&C for the youth athlete. In particular Greg will be discussing the affect that growth spurts and differing levels of maturation can have on the training needs of youth athletes. Greg will also provide a practical on movement skills training and how we can implement movement variability and a combination of physical and cognitive challenges to best develop well rounded athletes as well as keep them engaged and interested in the training process.
